There’s so much more to Australia’s capital city than just parliament house and an annual flower festival. Canberra is home to so much history, gourmet food, monuments and trendy hotels like Hotel Realm.

Where to stay in Canberra: Hotel Realm

Hotel Realm is Canberra’s newly renovated 5 star luxury hotel located minutes away from the main city attractions. It’s a great space for functions and weddings and hosts a number of Australia’s well-known politicians (so they must be doing something right!)

Location

Hotel Realm is located along the National Circuit, right next to the Parliamentary Triangle, 15 minutes from popular sites such as the National Gallery of Australia and Lake Burley Griffin and only 10kms away from Canberra Airport.

If you’re planning to drive to Canberra (which we strongly recommend), there is free on-site parking lot for hotel guests which is a big tick for location and convenience.

Room

We stayed in the Executive Suite Room which consisted of a king bed, ensuite with spa bath, kitchen, lounge area and private balcony overlooking the tip of Parliament House.

The room was modern, clean and spacious …and the fact that we spent most of our time in our plush bathrobes scrolling through the list of on-demand movies and Foxtel is a good sign of comfort!

We are also impressed with the kitchenette, complete with a Nespresso coffee machine, dish washer-dryer, microwave, fridge and snacks for the late night nibbles.

Amenities

If you’re frequent travellers like us, you’ll know you’re in good hands when you have APPELLES Apothecary luxury bathroom amenities at your accommodation.

Hotel Realm guests are given APPELLES shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and moisturiser which saved us from having to open our own APPELLES products we had packed for our road trip to Canberra (sensitive skin needs skin-loving products afterall!)

Spa & Wellness

One of the perks of staying at Hotel Realm is having full access to the Evo Health Club or Hale Gym.

The Evo Health Club is located within the Hotel Realm with an indoor heated lap pool, sauna, steam room and hydrotherapy spa.

Hale Gym is located within Brassey hotel which includes group classes, personal training, yoga, pilates and more.

We unfortunately didn’t get to experience Mudd The Spa but would love to add a massage or beauty treatment on our next visit.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast buffet at Buvette Bistro had continental options such as bacon, mushrooms and eggs cooked your way as well as plenty of vegetarian friendly options such as muesli, cereals, pastries and pancakes.

Although there are 5 dining options in the precinct (and plenty of other options nearby) we chose to also dine Buvette and we’re so glad we did. We opted for the chef’s recommendations and the food tasted just as good as it looked and we still can’t get over that rhubarb crumble.

The wine selection was also very impressive. We chose the locally grown white and red and both were an absolute delight.
